WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - GenX levels in finished water samples at the Sweeney Water Treatment Plant increased to 33.3 parts per trillion on July 2, according to a Cape Fear Public Utility Authority news release.
Readings for most of April and May were in the single digits and remained at 16 ppt or lower until June 19, when it spiked to 25 ppt. On June 27, the GenX level was 27 ppt and after the 33.3 ppt result July 2, it was 25 ppt on July 10.
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services established a GenX health goal of 140 parts per trillion.
