Troopers search for driver in deadly Pender County hit and run

PENDER COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) - The North Carolina State Highway Patrol has arrested a man in connection with a deadly hit-and-run in Pender County last week.

Deanglo Eugene Newton, 32, of Rose Hill, was charged with felony hit-and-run, failure to give aid to an injured person, and driving with a revoked license.

Troopers say Tylek Omonte’ Bordeaux, 18, of Burgaw was walking southbound on U.S. 421 near Wards Corner Loop Road around 2 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9 when he was struck from behind by a vehicle.

He was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.

Troopers are conferring with the Pender County District Attorney’s Office to see if additional charges are warranted.
